Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a condition that is characterized by prolonged and extreme tiredness or weariness (fatigue) that is not relieved by rest.
Someone with CFS may feel like they have a viral infection as many of the symptoms are similar -
- mild fever (101 degrees or less)
CFS symptoms can come on suddenly, possibly after a stressful life event, or develop over a period of time. Other symptoms of CFS are:
- Lymph gland tenderness in the neck or axilla (armpit area)
- Feeling tired regardless of amount of sleep
- Muscle aches - widespread
The causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are rooted in a decrease of the body's metabolism. Thorough lab testing is performed to determine the contributing factors of CFS and a customized treatment plan developed according to each patient's needs.
